Falling asleep

She had this moment,
her head resting on his chest,
drinking in his smell,
drunken from his smell,
half asleep,
content and happy.

She felt it
and she knew it was cheesy and melodramatic
but she had to say it
because she damn well felt it
so she had to voice it:

''If I could ever had a choice
I would like to die like this.
In your arms.
You giving me comfort,
easing the transition.
It would be peaceful
and it would drive all fear away''.

She said it.
He said nothing,
listening,
as he always does.
Then she fell asleep in his arms.
